3D Poster of a Fictional Device

Practice making models from technical drawings, rigging in KineFX, and Graphic Design.

Still Life with Teapot, Plastic Figure, Cutting Mat, and Extinguished Candle

This was a quick project I made to demonstrate basic proficiency with Pixar’s Renderman.

Cell Division

The music is Fumizono by Kogane

This work is practiced using CHOP networks in Houdini to trigger animation events based on music. I recreated a method for cell division using a Vellum simulation I learned from Tim van Helsdingen and then triggered its divisions based on a network I created that would activate when the volume passed a certain threshold in the chosen music.

Fluid Jiggle

While I was trying out different simulations for my black hole project I came across a cool effect with FLIP fluids when using a rotating attraction force. Nothing revolutionary but I wanted to get some quick practice in with processing fluid simulations and more time with Karma so I rendered out a small sequence for it.

Swords

I attempted one of those monthly art challenges but failed after 2 days. That being said I was able to make use of Cinema4D’s Volume Builder/Mesher workflow. I think working this way is really great for organic shapes and objects that burrow into other objects.

Nuclear Monument

This was another Volume Builder/Mesher project. Here I was inspired by Henry Moore’s Nuclear Energy sculpture. I first created a sculpted recreation of that sculpture and then went on to blend in assets I got from The Smithsonian. I also made use of Magic Bullets Looks for compositing.

Still Life with Lantern, Umbrella, and Stop Light

This was a final I made for a class in 3D modeling. I made use of a few different techniques to create the assets, but most prominently I used NURBs to create most of the geometry.

It was also my first time working with Fog Volumes, and although it looks okay, there are some clear issues with the voxel resolution that I would deal with differently now.

Floor

This was a quick project where I was interested in proving to myself I could quickly and confidently use Redshift to blend image textures and create specific unique materials.

Tardis

I know it’s fan art, I’m sorry.
But here I made use of Substance Painter to texture the Tardis. I was interested in a technique I had learned in school where an image is projected across geometry to allow new 3D objects to interact with the photograph with new lighting and subtle camera moves.
